You can barely see it for the crowd of children jockeying for position around it, but that's our new fish tank.
What, you say? Didn't you just get a 5-gallon tank on Monday?
Why yes, you're right, dear readers.
But that wasn't enough. Once my husband got the small tank home, he started dreaming of bigger, better tanks. He assured me he would gradually build on this fish obsession, but yesterday he called me and asked me to measure the only empty wall in our den. He was standing in the fish section in Wal Mart when he called. Maybe I should've fudged the measurements a little, because he took the children back to PetSmart and bought the biggest tank he could find that would fit on that wall.
The kids and hubby were all up until 9:30 last night filling the tank with gravel, faux underwater flora, structures and of course, water.

At last, the bubbles rose, the light was turned on and the children sat mesmerized in front of the tank. It is quite pleasant to watch and listen to.

There were no fish in the tank until this morning. Something about the temperature having to rise and all that hoo ha I know nothing about. It's nice to watch, but I have resigned all fish care to my husband. I have killed fish in the past, and I don't want their blood (do fish have blood?) on my hands.
On another note, I made an awesome purchase myself yesterday:

That, for the unscrapulous of you out there, is the much sought after Fiskars Threading Water punch. It makes that pretty scalloped edge you see on the paper. Ain't it purty?

Congrats on the fish.
More importantly, what size is that punch? Does it make the scallop and the holes? Where'd you get it.
:)
The punch makes about a 2" long shape; you have to line up the holes and repeat it to get the whole line. It does make the scallop and the hole at the same time. I got it at my LSS; it was $15 if you want one. Let me know, 'cause they're going to go fast!
