Well, it's not as bad as we thought.
Turns out the dash latch is about $25 bucks. Replacing the whole glove compartment would've been around $200, but 'tis just the latch that snapped. Hubby can fix that. No problem.
On a related note, hubby called me yesterday while I was driving to pick Quinn up from school. He needed the VIN number for the van so he could call the Toyota dealership to order the part. I knew it was etched on the windows, so I squinted to read the etching off the passenger side window. It wasn't easy. It's very light, so I had to position the van in front of something dark so I could read the number. And the number was backwards (to me). I was typing the number into my phone while trying to watch the movement in the carpool line. Not the easiest trick, but I did it.
As Quinn was climbing into the car, I glanced out of MY window.
Yep. Same VIN number. Etched into my side. Still backwards, just MUCH more readable.
Stupid me.
