So the hair is growing out and it's getting knotted during the night. This morning she looked like Tracy Turnblad. I expected her to burst into a chorus of "Good Morning, Baltimore!" but she didn't. Dang it.
Today we tried braids. Lillian usually has very little patience for getting just a basic ponytail, so I was surprised when she sat still for the braiding process. It turned out okay. Near the end of the second braid, I pulled her hair too hard and she cried. The resulting picture tells the tale:

Here's the back:

And the individual braids:

The camera always cheers her up. She's a natural in front of the camera (could it be because I love to take her picture?)

I know the braids look like they're sitting on top of her head instead of being woven into her hair, but I can't do it any other way. It has to do with the direction I braid, I think. I can make my own hair look like it's woven, but when I do others' hair the braids sit on top. Strange.

Very cute. This is a different type of braid than the regular "French" braid. I've always heard it called the "German" braid. I LOVE this one, esp when done on really think hair, it's so pretty.
I love the first & last pics of her, so sad, then so happy!
awww...I need a little girl to braid hair for...can I borrow her sometime?
It is a direction thing. You're braiding under rather than over. I *wish* I could do this. I love the way it looks. It's hard to train your fingers to change though.
I'd take lots of pictures if I had a face that cute around!!!
Adorable ! Locks of love? That's ambitious! I think I'd get a few inches longer and give up! :)
I can't believe how much Lillian looks like my Georgia! WOW! Same hair color, eye color, and similar face shape!
